Works as advertised

I selected the Polar FT40 after reading numerous other reviews on Amazon. I use it at the gym so I don’t need integrated GPS which some higher end products provide. Other reviewers cited difficulties sustaining a regular heartbeat. I have been using the monitor for three weeks (plenty of time to fail later I suppose), but to date it has worked exactly as advertised. I wear on it on weight training circuits and on ellipticals, treadmills and stairclimbers. It holds a consistent heartbeat, is comfortable and syncs with the aerobic equipment at the gym, displaying the heartbeat on the equipment panel. I find having heartbeat information readily available does improve my workouts, particularly on interval training, where I can monitor maximum heart rate and time to return to baseline heart rate. It also points out when I am not working hard enough (more than I thought). It seems rugged as well. I’ve banged it around a bit.

I upload the data to the Polar web site which syncs the data with Virgin Miles (a pedometer site that my company supports). This work seamlessly and let’s me track progress over time.

I am not sure what else I would want in a monitor. It meets my needs perfectly. I recommend it.

My first Polar

This is the first Polar Watch I own, so it will take me a while to get used to it and extract the most from it. But, the product looks good, fits well, was delivered on time and with good packaging, so far, so good!

The only let-down was that the link to computer was not included (I didnt realize that) so I woint be able to upload my data to personaltrainer. That’s why I gave it only 4 stars (for not telling me very clearly that I needed an extra accessory).

FT40

I love this monitor. It works as described. Came on time and w/out an issue. My only critique would be the numbers are a tad small in room not totally lit. I excersise in my bedroom where it can be somewhat dark (depending on time of day) When dimly lit it is harder to see. Other then that I would buy this again and would recomend it to a friend, as I have.

MOTIVATION x2

All I can say is even with the limited directions included, this is NOT a hard watch to figure out and use. After about maybe 10 minutes of entering in my personal data and doing the VO2 test, you are ready to go. This thing tracks total time exercising, time in fat burning zone, time in fitness zone, total calories burned, % of calories from fat, and max/avg beats per minute. It’s extremely motivating to see the results at the end of the workout, thats for sure. This is definitely worth the price!
