heart rate monitors5 Exercise Heart Rate Monitors: Which ones do you like?
Querious asked:

I am NOT a hard core exercise person. I’m just looking to get in better shape by running. I suspect that I’d get quickly adjusted to the chest strap but are there any wrist monitors which keep continuous track of your heart rate? I don’t wanna have to stop and put two fingers over the sensor, know what I mean?

I almost always train with a HRM. I recently switched from my old Polar to a Timex. The Road Trainer medel I think? It’s much better. Better display. backlight, programmable ranges, average, min, and max heart rate, calories burned, and much more.

heart rate monitors

I had a Polar HR monitor a few years back that lasted a good while. It was pretty much your basic package recording both time and heart rate and yes the chest straps do take time to get used to. After the battery or something went wrong with the watch I rarely used the band anymore, with the exception of a few treadmill runs to get a good idea of my heart rate when it is read on the treadmill. I just recently decided to get another HR monitor and this time I chose one from Garmin, again it is pretty basic package but your HR is read on your wrist and I had a choice between a GPS within the watch to track my runs or a small footpod to go on my shoe. I ened up going with the footpod since that would be more accurate to my actual stride length. I’d suggest if you are looking for the right kind of HR monitor to find a local running store and ask them for advice, they can often times help you with your selection across all brands and sometimes order them for you cheaper than you would at a regular sports store.
