I purchased this watch from Amazon in May, 2009, to wear when working out. It was so attractive and useful, that I began to wear it most of the time instead of my expensive Omega. However, one morning when strapping it on, I dropped it less than three inches onto a granite countertop. It fell face-first and the crystal completely shattered. In decades of watch-wearing experience, I have never had this happen, so I emailed Sportline and to find out whether they wanted to replace it or repair it. I received the following response:

Dear Charles,

I’m sorry for the inconvenience you are having with your purchase. Unfortunately the guarantee does not cover crystal or battery.

Thank you,

Shantal

I recommend you select a watch from a company that is less indifferent to a legitimate customer problem.

The watch looks good, and does a great job at taking your heart rate while resting but falls short when you are trying to get an active reading. I think if you were doing mild exercise, or if you want to measure your rate through ‘resting’ times it would be ideal but I bought it for use in a little more hardcore sense.

I don’t know if it is because of the sweat or what, but it is near impossible to get a reading on the fly. You can expect to stop what you are doing, press & hold the button, and then get your reading. It is also strange that sometimes it takes a very quick reading, and sometimes it takes much longer (20 seconds of holding the button down) – the accuracy seems to be pretty good either way. I know that I am not using the Monitor in its preferred ideal fashion, but it would be nice if it met me more 1/2 way.

To be fair, this is the 1st Heart Rate Monitor I have owned, & it is now sitting on the shelf unfortunately. I don’t have the pocketbook right now to buy another, and this one doesn’t do the trick for me…

Une montre très actuelle, d’un design recherché, qui a sa place autant à la ville que sur un terrain de sport, pour un prix très étudié.

This strapless watch/heart rate monitor is great looking and functions perfectly as advertised. The one drawback is that when I received the watch from Amazon.com, the battery was dead. Rather than go through the wasted time and effort to order another and then return the original watch for a credit, I simply paid $5.00 and had a new battery installed. I called the watch company and they said that they have advised those who sell their watches to place a little cardboard/paper tab between the battery and terminal to keep the battery fresh until it is sold or used. I guess that Amazon owes me the cost of a battery. A good product however.

This is a good value purchase for a specific need-use watch. Because of a specific health issue I wanted a heart rate moniter. This is a quality looking watch and the time function and the hart moniter function are dependable. The sport look is neat with a tough feel to go with the dependable operation. The only negative is the band. If you don’t mind, or prefer, the plastic/rubber feel on a watch band there is no problem. the size of the band makes it difficult to locate a comfortable and attractive band for the “cool” watch. One of the seiko orange/black sportura bands will work, but at an expensive price. I used a stanless casio band that was re-sized on a grinding wheel to create a nead sport watch that looks great. This is a good watch when you are comfortable with the band used with it.
